Iryna Clark emerged, not unscathed, from the ruins
of the former Soviet Union, having been born in occupied Germany
and spending much of her life in St. Petersburg.
Her interest in Design began as an inverse reflection of her Fine Art/Media Arts studies at the University of California, San Diego, where she became obsessed with "doing something useful" with art. Most nights find her reading books on the history of typography by the soft light of her laptop screen, often as a prelude to dreams of ligatures and diacretics.
Recent projects have included the illustration of children's books, musical production with Canum Entertainment,
and a year-long venture to Broadway to work on scenic design with EdwardPierce Design (musicals Wicked
(London/ National Tour/Japan) and The Pirate Queen (now on Broadway).
Iryna now lives on the outskirts of San Diego with her husband
Nathaniel, who enjoys the
cries of the coyotes, and her teen daughter Katya, who- as J.D. Salinger said- is at the age where she "just dies" about 12 times a day.
